Worship With Us:

Celebration of Holy Eucharist Sundays at 10 am

Welcome

The Rev. Daniel Mattila

Priest in Charge

I grew up in a small, mining town in northern Minnesota. Italian ancestors on my mother's side and Finnish ancestors on my father's side were all early settlers of the town. So, relatives and family members were everywhere. I began to attend church when I was eight years old and I've been going strong since then!
For an assignment in the 9th grade, I wrote a paper about how I wanted to become a pastor. It was an early calling! Although I waffled a bit in my teen and college years about this choice, I graduated from college in 1991 with the pre-seminary student award and was ready to go. I went to Yale Divinity School and graduated from there in 1994. I was ordained as a youngster being only 25 years old at the time. I am now looking forward to my 28th year of ordained ministry.
In 1995, I began studying at the University of Connecticut for a Master of Social Work degree. In addition to becoming a priest, I also wanted to be a therapist. I graduated from UConn in 1997 and have been working as a cognitive behavioral therapist in New York City and Westport, CT since then. In addition to working with individuals and couples, I also supervise and mentor new clinicians. My career in the mental health field has greatly helped me to be a better priest.
Sunday morning worship is my favorite time of the week. The beauty, truths, and history in the Anglican liturgy continue to inspire awe and appreciation in me. In my time off, the things I enjoy are cooking, cars, country music, and my cats -- easy to remember as they all begin with the letter "c". I enjoy reading a wide variety of things - from trashy airport novels to scholarly books on theology.

I grew up a half mile away from St. Andrew's Church. I went to kindergarten here. I came with my Grandfather, Art, for many years. After my son's diagnosis of a brain tumor, this parish became part of my family. They literally welcome me with open arms. I just love the people, the charm and the long history behind it. I am hoping someday you will stop here and worship with us and feel what I feel when I go to church. It's so much more than faith or religion, it's a family.

Susie Williams

Treasurer

I have been a faithful member of St. Andrews for over 40 years. I have served on the vestry many times and am currently serving as Treasurer.

Alexander Giacoma

Organist and Music Director

From an early age, Alexander's first love was writing music. Although he began piano lessons at 6, it wouldn't take center stage until later in life following his first exposure to Choral Music and the works of Johann Sebastion Bach, beginning what has since been a lifelong dedication to music for voice, piano and now organ. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Western Connecticut State University and is now pursuing an MBA at the business school.
